Happy almost the end of 2019!
Let’s have a quick look at what I have accomplished this 2019. If you’ve been paying attention, I have been tracking my progress each month in my Small Snippets posts, so some of this may not be a surprise to you.
I have gone abysmally at rereading books this year 😰 While I did try with reading the first book of the Lunar Chronicles this year, sadly I did not pick up any other books in the below series.
❌The Lunar Chronicles by Melissa Meyer.
❌The whole Tortall series by Tamora Pierce.
❌The Seventh Tower series by Garth Nix.
❌Finish the Modern Faerie Tales series.

I have a few things that I would like to get done in 2019 and since I like making lists, I thought I would share them with you all. I really want to focus on getting things done that I have been putting off for ages – a lot of these things are ones I’ve previously started or got half way through and then gave up. So 2019 is the year of the reread – rewatch – and the replay.
It’s not like I have enough to read as it is, I want to go back and give a bunch of series a reread. They’re either ones that I never finished or ones from my childhood that I want to see if they hold up.
The below aren’t really specific titles but rather authors or series that I have seen around and I want to see what they’re like.
✅ Read a Lori Foster book.
✅ Finally start a Katie Ruggle book (also known as Katie Allen)
✅ A Dreamspun Beyond book 😓 It used to be a subscription but now they’re single purchase books. Waaaah, I wanted to try a subscription 😋
✅ Watch more than the first episode of Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency.
I have so many games that I am half way through and really need to finish. I have a tendency to not finish a game even though I am really near the end because I think I need to keep playing and experiencing more of the story.
- Mass Effect 3 – my save file from Mass Effect 2 corrupted 😥 and I need to go back and play the last boss battle to get it back. It was such a blow that I haven’t been back but I just really love the series and need to finish it!
✅ Dream Daddy.
There have been so many books over the years that have left a mark. I was always an avid reader but it was in early high school that I truly became hooked. The below are just a few of the ones that have stayed favourites over the years.
Howl’s Moving Castle
by Diana Wynne Jones
Goodreads || Book Depository || Amazon || Booktopia || Kobo
Quick story run down: Sophie finds herself under a spell that transforms her into an old woman. Seeking a way to break the spell, Sophie tracks down the castle of the wizard Howl.
While at the castle she not only looks after the wizard and the castle occupants, but she begins to learn more about herself. Howl’s Moving Castle is a story of magic, mayhem, high fantasy hi-jinks.
Quick reasons why I love the book:
- The Cover: Just look at that cover, how could you pick up this book and not read it?! For a while, the entirety of Jones’ books were released with covers like these and they were beautiful! I have made it my mission to complete my Chrestomanci collection with these covers.
- Howl: The character of Howl just flew off the pages and made me fall in love. The interactions with him and Sophie also made my heart melt, and the book has remained on my favourite list ever since I finished it.
