Star Trek: Lower Decks is everything I had hoped it would be! The show is funny, beautifully canon, and full of adventures within the lower ranks of Star Fleet. I refuse to give any negative words about this show any time of day because for once, Star Trek i leaning into it’s fun side.
The humour has always been present in the show but it is great to see a series finally grip it with both hands and produce something that is entertaining and fun. I would recommend that even the most die hard and anti-cartoon Star Trek fans watch at least one episode of this show. Give it a go!
As always I am still at work, sometimes working with the public can be quite trying and reopening with strict safety guidelines has been especially trying. Please everyone, if there are entry requirements, don’t argue with the person enforcing them at the door; if they are the ones on the front line they did not have anything to do with making the rules.
So I hope everyone is staying safe and staying sane 😋
While I am not going the full slog of removing all of my plastic use, I have made a few changes and am trying to cut down on how much plastic I use. These changes have seen me start to use a shampoo bar which means I have not purchased any new shampoo bottles. I now have a bamboo toothbrush that after I have used it can recycle. I have also started to use a solid moisturiser.
All of these things have been surprising as I am enjoying them so much. The shampoo bar has done amazing things to my hair and I no longer have greasy hair two days after washing!
Things have been a bit crazy this month, what with the pandemic and everything. In this time my work place has shut its doors to the public, if I weren’t holed up in bed, I would be at work doing a lot of busy work and manning the phones. Here are some of the things I have been enjoying while in self-isolation.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons
The newest Animal Crossing game came out on March 20 and I have been in Animal Crossing heaven since then! It hasn’t been the best of times for me as I have the sniffles so have stayed in bed pretty much each day since March 20, however I have had enough time and wits about me to enjoy the game immensely!
Happy end of February everyone! I’ve decided to step away from the Small Snippet format and try something different for my month wrap up post. Below you’ll see some of my favourites from February from a whole range of different mediums.
So welcome to my favourites of February and enjoy!
Omgosh you guys! The final season was so perfect and amazing. I was watching this show on the edge of my seat as I had absolutely no idea where the story would go. From season one The Good Place has been such a wild ride! I feel in love with the characters and was constantly surprised by the directions taken by the narrative!
The last episode was a doozy and despite my many emotions, I was so happy to see it through. The Good Place has cemented itself as one of my favourite shows out there!
After renewing my Netflix subscription after a hefty amount of time on Stan, the first thing that I watched was the second season of Cupcake & Dino: General Services. I am a big fan of cartoons but this really takes the (cup)cake 😉🧁I love the humour, the characters, the out there storylines but most of all, I love that catchy opening theme song!
If you can, I would really recommenced watching this show! Or at the very least, watch the first episode – you won’t regret it.
Playing Pokemon on a big screen is amazing! For something that isn’t much of a game changer, it is a game changer for me. Usually playing Pokemon is such a individual thing, you’re looking down at a screen and to share in your adventure is to turn the screen away from yourself. With Pokemon Sword and Shield you can play on the big screen and watch as someone plays.
My partner and I are currently sharing the one console, and it is really great being able to watch them play the game and experience things in different ways than me. Especially since they chose the gross monkey starter, rather than the always superior water choice.
I say sharing but it seriously coming down to whoever wakes up first gets first dibs on the game 😋 Also how cute is the new Galarian Farfetch’d?!
Okay so you know I love my tea, so I had to share my current favourite blend! Singapore Breakfast is a beautiful and coconutty tea which is not only black tea but is a mix of both black and green tea. Based off of the Singapore kaya toast, the tea is a beautiful black tea that is so smooth to drink.
Currently the tea isn’t available in teabags, so I have been making my own and taking them to work. WhenI’m out and about in the shelves I have my little thermos of this lovely tea. I would really recommend giving this tea a try, it is quite different but everyone who I have gotten to try the blend, has loved it ☕️❤️
You might not know this but at the time of this post going up, I would have just returned from Hawaii!
I have been, until very recently, working almost seven days a week for two years and I am ready for a break! The main thing I want out of anytime off right now is just to sleep in, relax, read, and do nothing. Also a trip to Wet ‘n Wild and the Disney store would be nice 😋 I am sure I will post some pics in next months Small Snippet, so keep an eye out.
Charli by Charli XCX
It was a surreal experience listening to Charil for the first time – if only because I have never listened to a new album and already known almost every song. Since seeing Charil XCX live when she opened for Sia in Sydney, I have been a big fan and have been eagerly listening to each new release. I was so excited to see this new album and it does not disappoint!
Stand outs on the album are ‘Blame It On Your Love (feat Lizzo – who you know I love!),’ ‘Gone’ which features the amazing Christine and the Queens, and ‘1999‘ with Troye Sivan. While each song that I love is one that features Charil XCX and another singer, the solo songs are also amazing! Check out my favourite songs video clip!
August has been a busy month – one that has finished quite quickly! I hope you all enjoyed the graphic novel month which came about completely by accident.
I’m going to change things up and ask you a question this month, so feel free to check out the below poll and let me know how you’re interacting with this website. I’m going to use the results to create content thats more formatted and suited towards viewing on the screens that you use.
I’ve said this before but if you’re sick, don’t go to work 🤧I’ve been fighting off a cold for over a month now and I have sadly succumbed. I think I did pretty well considering I was surrounded by so many sick staff members at work.
Remember the key words: Don’t be a dick – Don’t go to work sick!
Dreamspun Beyond book – Okay so apparently ages ago I bought but never read one of these books 😧So it was a lovely surprise when I logged onto my DreamSpinner account to find that Dragon’s Hoard by M.A. Church was sitting there waiting for me to read. And may I say that I LOVED it! The book was very fun and I read it so quickly in one day. Unfortunately the book is only available as an audiobook at the moment but I would really recommend people checking out the Dreamspun Beyond series and also Dragon’s Hoard!
Parks and Rec -I am half way through season 6 and now my partner is as hooked as I am ❤ I’m actually surprised that I’ve never encountered any spoilers, especially in regards to election results, etc.
July is not only the half way mark for 2019 but it is also a month of big change for me.
I got a new job!
The position is permanent part-time and comes with guaranteed hours per month. As someone who has worked casually for five years and who has been looking for permanent work for eight, this is a momentous occasion.
I actually have a wage. I can make plans with my wage. I don’t have to live in fear that my contract will be cancelled early with no notice! So much of the stress and fear I have been carrying around is slowing fading away and I’m coming to terms with these things.
July has been a good month and hopefully the rest of the year will be just as good!
Okay so it has taken ages but we finally have the island paradise expansion of the The Sims. I say finally because the Seasons and Island Living expansions are my absolute favourites. If I only had to chose two they would be it!
The Sims 4: Island Living does not disappoint, it is beautiful, fun to play, and I doubt I will return to the other town areas 😋 Why would I leave paradise? The added game play and careers are really engaging and I was so exited to see a lesbian couple and the first non-binary character included in the area.
Honestly, look at the below picture, how could you not want to play this expansion?
